Ecumenical Reception of the Peace Light from Bethlehem and Carol Service

The third Sunday of Advent was very rich in ecumenical events in Caen.

RC Bishop Jean-Claude Boulanger
had invited the representatives of the Christian Communities
to join him in the celebration of the
Reception of the Peace Light from Bethlehem
in St Jean church (Caen city centre).

This religious event, organised by the Scouts de France movement
has been a tradition for many years but this year it took on a special ecumenical flavour.

Our Anglican Chaplaincy in Caen was represented by Yvonnic,
our Reader in training.

Then the Peace Light from Bethlehem was carried in during a procession at the beginning of our Carol Service in the Chapelle de La Miséricorde led by Fr Matthew Harrison
and accompanied by the excellent Choir of St George's -Paris-
led by our dear friend Choir Master Peter Hicks.

Readings were done by Père Berthout (Head priest of Paroisse de la Sainte Trinité - Caen city centre) and Pasteur Nyangono (of the Eglise Protestante Unie de France) with whom we have a long standing fraternal relationship.
