Each year just before Christmas, the reception of the Peace Light of Bethlehem is a major ecumenical celebration at the invitation of RC Bishop Jean-Claude Boulanger.
We participated in the preparation of the event and Yvonnic, our Reader in training,
was invited to give the address.
The Service was held in St Julien church,
a large contemporary architecture church building next to Caen University.
A very touching moment in the celebration took place when Bishop Boulanger received the Peace Light and then invited all the Ministers present to light the flame of Faith together.
Then, from this flame, the Peace Light of Bethlehem was distributed
by the scouts to all the congregation.
Fr Douglas, warmly welcomed by Bishop Jean-Claude, attended the ceremony.
Then in the same afternoon, Fr Douglas presided at the Eucharist
for our Chaplaincy and received in our Chaplaincy's name the Light of Bethlehem
which was brought to us by a scout leader.
