The Ecumenical Service was held in St Bernard church,
a small and humble modern church in a popular suburb of Caen.
Ecumenical Services have a quality of their own:
praying together with fellow Christians of other traditions
seems so simple and obvious when you live it!
We were warmly welcomed by Fr Laurent Lair, Curate of the Parish.
Bishop Boulanger was here too, of course, along with two Orthodox Priests representing the two different Orthodox Communities present in Caen and the newly appointed Pastor of the Protestant Church who gave a remarkable address.
Fr Matthew was here for the Anglican tradition and Michelle, our Ecumenical Officer, did a reading.
For the intercessions, the congregation was invited to spontaneously express their prayers about Ecumenism and the Unity of the Church.
One person expressed the wish that we had an Ecumenical Service every month and not just once a year. A wish that was clearly supported by many.
