Our dear Rev Matthew Harrison, Chaplain of St George´s Church in Paris, has
been welcomed as a Canon of the Cathedral Chapter.
Fr Matthew was
collated (the formal term for licensing him as a Canon) at the opening
Eucharist of the French Archdeaconry Synod on Wednesday 12 June.
He is to become the first occupant of the "John Henry Newman" stall
which has been created in the pro-Cathedral in Malta. He shares with
Bishop Geoffrey and interest in the life and legacy of Cardinal Newman.
The Bishop says Fr Matthew was an ideal choice for this new position.

As a delegate from Caen Chaplaincy to the Synod, it was such a pleasure to witness Father Matthew's distinction. For a terrible moment I thought that he might be leaving us, but then I envisaged a trip to Malta around Christmas time to see the Manger scenes, which are reputed to be the best anywhere. Each Church in Malta competes to produce the finest "crèche"! But it is so good to know that Father Matthew will remain with us in Paris and Caen.
